Sold 194 dairy cows, 92 heifers. Good quality free stall/parlor cows are the easiest thing to sell currently. Three herd dispersals today with the parlor herd averaging several hundred more per head than the tie stall herds. Having said that, top cow today comes out of a reputation tie stall herd. 2500 Kenneth Martin, Colby. 2450, 2400, 2400, 2350, 2300, 2300, 2250 Duane Byrne, Brooklyn WI. Still many cows selling 1200- 1700.
Springing Holstein heifers 1400- 1775. Top 1800 Marvin Sauder, Withee. Opens 95-125 cwt. Single birth Holstein heifer calves 20-125/head.
Dairy bulls 800- 1225. Market bulls 80-95.
Choice Holstein steers 132-138. Beef steers up to 143.50. Holstein feeder steers 110- 140. Beef cross steers up to 1.77. Holstein bull calves mostly 50- 135 late in the week, 85-160 early in the week. Beef cross calves 150-325.
Sows 62- 67. Butchers 72- 81. Boars up to 40.
Cull cows lower later in the week. 20% sold 78- 84. 50% sold 57- 77.
3x3x8 Alfalfa grass mix hay 85- 115NT. Rounds and squares grass 40- 67.50. Rounds straw 25- 40.
We have auction every Monday and Wednesday in Thorp at 5:00. Every Thursday in Loyal 10:00 hay, 11:00 cattle. Sold a little over 800 head this week.
