Took me a little over 8 months to get an appointment with a neurologist at UW-Madison. Yup, she said, you have Parkinson’s and whether you like it or not that condition typically just trends from bad to worse. Not much of a happy spin on that. At least I didn’t win the election. Dale Pederson herd from hayward sold well. 16 cows over $2000. Top 3250, 2700, 2700, 2600, 2600, 2500. Herd springing heifers 1200- 1750. Choice Holstein steers and heifers 93-95, top 97.50 Adin Stutzman, Granton. 30% of market cows 56 to 61.50.

We’re expanding our parking lot again. Seems there’s no end of places to spend money to improve operations.
No herd dispersal today but lots of nice consigned cows. Better cows 1400 – 2000. Top 2100 Dukestead Acres, Abbotsford. Good springing heifers 1100 to 1400. Top 1450 Sheldon Zimmerman, Unity. Open Holstein heifers mostly 70 to 85 cents per pound. Extreme top 1.05. Single birth Holstein heifer calves $25 to $65 per head.
Holstein breeding bulls 85-95 cents per pound. Market bulls 65-80.
Beef feeder steers and heifers $1 to $1.36. Holsteins mostly 80 to 1.05. 836 lb Hol steers .99, 818 lb Hol steers $1.00. Holstein bull calves lower, 40 -100 per head. Good beef cross bull and heifer calves 110-170 per head.
Choice Holstein steers and heifers 92 to 98. Choice beef steers and heifers 92-99. 30% of market cows 50 – 60.50. 35% 45- 49.50.
Hay market lower. First crop rounds grass 25-35 per bale. Second and third crop large squares Alfalfa/grass 45 to 70. Third crop large squares fancy grass $80. Bean stubble bales 20 -25. Small squares grass 3-$4. Large squares western wheat straw 40-45 per bale. Expecting another semi load of Canadian wheat straw this week, 11-19.
